Lost Traditions Our trip to Hamburg was very nice, although the weather left much to be desired. The city is diverse and beautiful, especially along the lake side. Its public transport is good and the center is within walking distances. Moreover, we came across this Chinese restaurant (Xiao Xiang, Mozartstrasse 28, 22083 Hamburg).

The cook-owner of this restaurant was an apprentice in the traditional way during the 70's in Hong Kong. He brought his skills to Europe and after some adventures, he settled in Hamburg in his own place. Still applying his way of cooking from the 70's, we've tasted food we've all forgotten for quite some time.

禮失而求諸野 - loosely translated as "while traditional values is lost, one can search for it on the rim (from the origin)". While cooking skills evolves, mostly to be more efficient, in the origin; Cooks who traveled outwards will bring the older way with them. Lost tastes could still be found somewhere on the outer rim, if you're lucky enough.

I apologize for mutilating this profound phrase to apply on such trivial as cooking.
